Meet The Team

Kara Hockey

Kara is a Clinical Psychologist with over 10 years of experience working within a range of settings practicing values such as kindness, curiosity, and compassion.

Kara is interested in all things relating to well-being, however, has taken a passionate interest in supporting clients who have experienced adverse events such as trauma, eating disorders, relationship breakdown, anxiety, grief, and loss.

Kara works from a compassionate and strengths-based framework and understands the importance of developing a safe, trusting, collaborative therapeutic relationship in order to work towards change.

Kara practices a range of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy.

Kara has a wide range of experience working across the lifespan and is currently accepting referrals for adults requiring assistance with the following:

• Childhood Trauma
• Body Image Concerns
• Mood Disorders
• Work-related stress
• Grief and Loss

Sonia Siebenhausen

Warm, caring and compassionate, with extensive experience in private practice and educational settings.

Sonia completed her Masters of Clinical Psychology at Charles Sturt University.

Sonia also has post graduate qualifications in Education.

Sonia works with clients of all ages and regularly assists people experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, OCD, body image concerns and disordered eating, low self-esteem, stress and burnout, grief and loss, post traumatic stress disorder, career and adjustment to life changes and relationship challenges.

Sonia is warm, caring and compassionate and works collaboratively with a focus on what each person would like to achieve in therapy. Sonia is passionate about providing a service that acknowledges and respects the value of each individual, couple or organisation and seeks to build on their strengths to achieve positive relationships, wellbeing and hope for a meaningful future.

Sonia draws on different evidence-based treatments to work with each person to best meet their needs.

Kerri Marshall

Works with people of all ages, using methods from a wide range of theoretical systems and therapy models.

Kerri has been working with children and young people since the mid 1990’s before beginning work with adults as well.

Kerri now works with people of all ages, using methods from a wide range of theoretical systems and therapy models.

Mostly though, Kerri will work with the individual person, in their individual life, in their individual way.

As an avid learner, Kerri will always be looking for more creative and effective ways to help people with difficulties in areas such as anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, life overwhelm, professional ethical decision making, learning difficulties, bullying, and school refusal just to name a few.

Kerri also has a keen interest in sleep, and has authored an MCBT-i based group sleep program called Sleep Savvy which aims to assist people of all ages to develop easier and healthier sleep patterns.

Kerri also holds assessment clinics each week where she will use a range of standardised assessments to gather information for areas such as learning difficulties (such as dyslexia and dyscalculia), ADHD, adult autism, and functional assessment needs for NDIS, among others.

Leisa Bonaventura

Friendly, caring, and compassionate therapist who works collaboratively with clients.

Leisa is a Clinical Psychology Registrar who completed her Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Southern Queensland.

Leisa has worked within the health sector for over 15 years in a variety of settings and locations.

Through her previous work as a pharmacist, Leisa discovered her passion for mental health and decided to pursue a career in psychology.

Leisa is a friendly, caring, and compassionate therapist who works collaboratively with clients to achieve their therapeutic goals.

Leisa uses a strengths-based approach in her treatment and is passionate about helping her clients to improve their psychological well-being, identify and reconnect with what is most important to them, and work towards living more meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Leisa utilises a range of evidence-based therapies and interventions including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based interventions.

Leisa works with clients across the lifespan and has experience working with a range of presentations including:

Leisa also has a strong interest in psychological assessment. She has experience conducting a range of assessments including cognitive, learning, memory, and personality assessments.

Leisa also has experience assessing children and adults for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism

Helen Swenson

Helen has been working as a Certified Practicing Speech Pathologist (CPSP) for over twenty years with children, and adolescents/young adults.

Helen has extensive experience in working in schools in Australia and the United Kingdom, and in private practice since 2014.

Helen believes that you never stop learning in all aspects of your life, and has had a career long focus on extending, updating, and refining her speech pathology knowledge and practice in assessment, reporting, and intervention methods.

She brings her love of learning and sense of fun to provide client focussed services in an individualised and collaborative manner.

Helen works with children, and adolescents/young adults with a focus on:

  • speech sound production
  • receptive and expressive spoken language
  • – literacy: reading, spelling and comprehension
  • – social communication (pragmatics)

Alana Batch

Alana is a clinical Psychology registrar with a diverse background, having worked in private practice, a community-controlled health service, and government public health.

She brings a wealth of experience to her practice, embodying authenticity, honesty, and compassion in her approach to therapy.

Alana seeks to empower clients to navigate life’s challenges while striving towards their life goals.

Alana adopts a strength-based perspective to understand her clients’ experiences, viewing them through a lens of resilience and potential.

She employs evidence-based therapies such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to provide tailored interventions that promote growth and wellbeing.

Alana has a particular interest in working alongside neurodivergent individuals (including, but not limited to, those who identify as Autistic, ADHDers, experiencing personality disorders, and schizophrenia) and assisting them in navigating the unique challenges experienced as part of their neurodivergence.

Central to Alana’s practice is the creation of a supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel validated, understood, and safe to express themselves authentically.

She values the importance of fostering a collaborative relationship with her clients, guiding them towards acceptance, change, and the fulfilment of their aspirations. Alana’s commitment to her clients’ well-being and personal growth is evident in her compassionate and dedicated approach to therapy.

Sarah Broadbent

Sarah, a Registered Psychologist, values a warm and collaborative therapy space.

Sarah has experience working with both children and adults experiencing social-emotional difficulties associated with a variety of mental health concerns.

Sarah values curiosity and compassion, offering a space in which clients feel respected, heard, and empowered.

Sarah understands the importance of a collaboration in therapy, supporting each individual to establish goals aligned with their own personal values.

Sarah draws upon a range of evidence-based approaches to assist clients’ in their individual circumstances, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and attachment-based theories.

Sarah also has extensive experience in conducting psychological assessments.

Sarah is currently completing a Master of Clinical Psychology (advanced entry).

In addition to her work at Maple House Psychology, Sarah has recently completed the Perinatal Workforce Development Program with Gidget Foundation Australia, where she also works part-time.
